Sharp Snapshot of Moving Codes
Reliably read dot-peened, laser-etched and printed codes
Whether for barcodes, 2D-codes or RFID - Leuze electronic offers the right reader for every code. With the LSIS 412i for blob analysis, the optical sensor professional brought a smart camera suitable for industrial use to the market that, in addition to simplified integration, offers a high degree of flexibility and process reliability. With their most recent addition to the family – the LSIS 422i, which can now also read and verify moving codes – Leuze electronic opens even more possible applications for the user.
3D position detection over a wide measurement range
Light-section sensors in rails of a robot application for door manufacturing
In the automated handling there are processes where objects have to be detected, located and gripped correctly. Leuze electronic has deliberately designed its LPS series light-section sensors for a large measurement range of 200 to 800 mm to be able to determine 3D gripping positions even for large-sized products. The compact structure of the LPS sensors enables the integration directly into the grippers. This is the ideal solution for robot applications at special-purpose machinery manufacturer G. Kraft Maschinenbau.

The World’s smallest contrast sensor
(Courtesey of Leuze Electronic)
Contrast sensors which are also called contrast scanners, are widely used in packaging machinery and automation technology, for example for the detection of print registration marks. Leuze electronic have a wide range of contrast sensors in a variety of housings, which help ensure labels are correctly positioned on many of the items we all buy at the supermarket.
Leuze electronic’s new KRT 3B contrast sensor is the smallest in the World, fitting within what Leuze call a ‘3 series’ housing, namely being the same size as a hundred other sensors Leuze produce. It is also a high-performance device, equal to larger units in terms of its function and its range.
Performance such as extremely short response times of 50 µs and high repeatability, as well as features such as IO-link make configuration and implementation easy. Three teach processes: 2-point teach, static 1-point teach and dynamic 2-point teach, provide optimal set up for every type of machine use.
Furthermore, the switching thresholds ascertained via teach-in can be changed during running operation in 4% increments with EasyTune. This online switching-threshold correction, makes it possible to quickly respond to modified process parameters without performing a new teach-in.
Another special feature is ‘YellowBoost’, a system developed by Leuze to optimise contrast detection in the white-light version of the contrast sensor. Although this affects all wavelengths, smoothing of the signal deviation is strongest in the yellow-light range, hence the name ‘YellowBoost’.
Leuze electronic, ‘the sensor people’ provide the small contrast sensor with the big set of features.
