Process & Packaging Machinery Association
The PPMA is the UK's trade association for suppliers of processing and packaging machinery to the UK market and represents over 350 member companies.

UKIVA and BARA are both now Special Interest Groups of PPMA.

Its principle objective is to promote sales of machinery, both at home and abroad, through various projects and services of mutual benefit to both members and their customers by providing free technical and machinery information and advice.

The next Exhibition for Processing and Packaging Machinery, the PPMA Show will take place at the NEC in Birmingham from 27 - 29 September 2011.

BARA (formerly known as the British Robot Association) provides a voice for the Robotics and Automation Industries, when dealing with government, industry, financial and academic institutions. The aim of the BARA is to promote the use of, and assist in the development of Automation in British industry. Recently the BARA membership voted to join the PPMA and for the BARA identity to exist as a special sub-group within the PPMA with representation on the PPMA Board.

Sensing Technology Exhibition

This is a new sensing technology exhibition showcasing the very latest sensing and related technologies and innovations for applications in science, commerce and industry.

TOTAL Processing and Packaging 2013 will be held at Birmingham's NEC from 21 - 23 May 2013.

It is the UK's leading integrated processing and packaging exhibition, showcasing production line solutions from beginning to end.

 

 

 

Midlands design and manufacturing

A new event focusing on the end-to-end manufacturing cycle – from design and development through to packaging and despatch, and everything in between.

6-7 April 2011 at the Birmingham NEC, co-located with MEDTEC UK (medical device technology), Mtec (sensors, measurement and instrumentation) and the 3C UK (contamination control and cleanroom products) shows, Midlands Design & Manufacturing (MDM) will embrace all the technologies, products and services that 21st century manufacturers, sub-contractors and specifiers depend on to achieve effective and efficient production regimes and world-class products.

The UKIVA is itself a founder member of the European Machine Vision Association, based in Frankfurt, which brings together both National Vision Associations and individual suppliers doing or wishing to conduct international business.
The 9th EMVA Machine Vision Business Conference will be held on 13 & 14 May 2011 in Amsterdam.

The UKIVA is a member of the UK Consortium for Photonics and Optics, www.ukcpo.org

MACH 2010

The UK's premier Manufacturing Technologies Event, was held at the NEC Birmingham in early June 2010.

The next event will be in 2012.

 BMVA

The British Machine Vision Association
The British Machine Vision Association and Society for Pattern Recognition (BMVA) is the vision association for individuals involved in research and development of all kinds of vision system, not only for industrial applications. They run an Annual Conference usually at the beginning of September. The BMVA has charitable status.
The International Society for Optical Engineering
The International Society for Optical Engineering web site contains a great deal of information about all aspects of imaging.
EUTIST-IMV
A European project to promote the take-up of Machine Vision technology, with some interesting case studies 

CMU home page.
The Carnegie Mellon University Computer Vision Home page. 

 

Dublin City University
Dublin City University offers a remote learning Master's course in Machine Vision and their website has many other Machine Vision resources.
