Cognex has announced its next-generation DataMan® handheld industrial ID scanner, the DataMan 8000 Series. Designed for the factory floor, it offers the industry’s most advanced code reading technology using patented IDMax® technology for reading 1D and 2D codes regardless of size, quality, printing method or surface. It also offers two new innovations for an industrial handheld code reader: modular communications (including Ethernet) and liquid lens variable focus technology. Alrad Imaging: New 4MegaPixel high speed camera with an output of 200fps
The CMC-4000 is the latest member of VDS Vosskuhler range of high speed cameras.
With a high resolution CMOS sensor comprising 2320 x 1726 pixels, the camera achieves a speed of 200fps. By reading out a smaller region of interest, the output frame rate can be increased considerably.
As the camera is fitted with a CMOS sensor with a global shutter all pixels are exposed simultaneously. Thus fast moving objects can be recorded distortion free.
The data from the camera is streamed via a Camera Link (10 tap) to a suitable PCI express frame grabber. Therefore high speed sequences can be recorded on a PCs main storage system.
The camera can either be controlled by serial commands via RS232 or directly via the Camera Link connection.

Alrad Imaging: New high performance Infrared Camera for thermal vision applications

The new IRC-640GE camera is designed for detection in the range of 8 -14 µm (LWIR) and is ideal for resolving temperature differences smaller than 80 mK in a range from -20 to +80 degrees C @ F/1.0. The camera operates at a frame rate of 24 Hz and incorporates a maintenance-free uncooled microbolometer detector and on-board real time image correction resulting in excellent noise-free and high-resolution images with 640 x 480 pixels via a 14 bit Gigabit Ethernet output.

Alrad Imaging: PIXCI® SV7 Dual Composite Video Express Bus Frame Grabber
Alrad have announce the introduction of the EPIX PIXCI® SV7 frame grabber which digitizes analogue video from one or two standard composite video cameras (NTSC, RS-170, PAL or CCIR). The two inputs are independent, allowing capture of different resolutions, frame rates, and video formats. Digitized video is transferred to the PCI Express bus at video rate. As a PCIe bus master, the PIXCI® SV7 board transfers image data without using the host computer's processor. Images may be transferred, at full or reduced frame rates, to computer memory for processing and/or analysis by the host computer's processor(s), or to other targets on the PCI Express bus.

Cognex UK; New Direct VGA Output Option for Cognex In-Sight Systems
Cognex has announced a new option to deliver its VisionView® operator interface to any VGA display. VisionView VGA is a low-cost DIN rail-mount adapter that provides direct VGA output for the VisionView application software, allowing operators to connect to any size VGA monitor without the need for a PC. In addition to supporting VisionView VGA, a new software release, VisionView 1.3, supports the TrainFont interactive control for run-time font training of OCR/OCV applications and allows VisionView to work with Cognex DataMan® 200 industrial ID readers in addition to In-Sight® vision systems.

STEMMER IMAGING and Tichawa Vision have signed an agreement for the distribution of Tichawa Contact Image Sensors
These sensors, referred to as CIS, provide a good alternative to conventional line-scan cameras, for example for the inspection of flat products. The patented CIS sensors by Tichawa Vision, a manufacturer from Friedberg, can be produced as a modular construction with a maximum scan width of 4160 mm and allows resolutions of up to 3600 dpi which corresponds to a pixel size of 7 µm. The Contact Image Sensors are available in monochrome or colour variants as well as with UV and IR light. Due to high data rates of these products they are especially suited for connection via a CameraLink acquisition card.

Matrox Orion HD high-performance graphics adapter supports HD and SD video capture
Matrox Imaging have announced Matrox Orion HD, a graphics and video capture board that supports standard and high definition video inputs and outputs including 1080p/60.
Orion HD captures from two independent digital or analog HD video sources and can output these video streams, which can be different formats, on the desktop. With support for different interfaces and flexible connectivity, the board can also switch between SDI, DVI-D, RGB, CVBS (up to 3) and YPrPb signals on each independent path. This allows for capturing and displaying different formats: SD (NTSC and PAL), HD (720p, 1080i and 1080p) or typical PC resolutions up to 1920x1200.
